HACKNEY CARRIAGES.

One or Two Adults to be a Full Fare.

FARES BY TIME.

  1. For the first hour or part ... 4s.
  2. For every subsequent 15 minutes or less ... 1s.
  3. One-fourth extra to be charged for each adult carried more than two
  4. When the passenger is not set down at the place of hiring time is to be reckoned for returning at the rate of five miles an hour from the place of setting down.

FARES BY DISTANCE.

  1. For each distance within the Town Belt ... 1s.
    N.B.β€”The Railway Station (either goods or passenger) to be deemed to be within the Belt.
  2. For every mile or part beyond the Belt from the place of hiring ... 1s.
  3. For every fifteen minutes complete detention ... 1s.
  4. One-half extra for every adult carried more than two.
  5. When the passenger is not set down at the place of hiring, half-fare to be allowed back to the Belt for any distance exceeding two miles from the Belt.

GENERAL.

For hiring a carriage and not further employing same ... 1s.

One-half of the above fares extra to be charged between 10 o'clock p.m. and 6 o'clock a.m.

Luggage not exceeding 14lbs. in weight for each person carried to be included in above fares.

Drivers to drive at six miles an hour unless unavoidably delayed or required by the hirer to drive slower.

The following places have been appointed by the City Council as Public Stands under the Hackney Carriage Bye-law:β€”

To Stand
On the Triangle opposite Messrs. Cobb and Co.'s office, western side of the public lamp 7
On the Triangle, opposite the City Hotel, facing east 5
Post Office, south side, facing east or west 5
On the Triangle, at junction of High Street and Manchester Street, east or west 7
Public lamp junction Peterborough Street and Whately Road 7
South Town Belt, each side of entrance to railway passenger station 20
In Cathedral Square, close along the west footpath in centre of the Square 7
In centre of triangle formed by Chester Street and Whately Road, near the Law Courts 8
