No. 959, in red.—All that portion of the Province of Canterbury comprised within the highest flood-line of Lake Ellesmere (subject, nevertheless, to reserves, freehold land, and pre-emptive rights).—For purposes in connection with the drainage of Lake Ellesmere.
thence south-easterly and north-easterly following the south-western boundaries of sections 10777 and 10778 and the south-eastern boundary of the latter section to the north Rakaia Road; thence south-easterly following the said road to Reserve No. 1185 (in red); thence following the north-west and south-west boundaries of that reserve, and also the southern and south-east boundaries of section 10779 to the afore-said road; thence south-easterly following the same to section 12832; thence following the north-west and south-west boundaries of that section to the south-west boundary of section 13511 to the north-west boundary of section 10368; thence following the north-west and south-west boundaries of the last-mentioned section to the road forming the south-east boundary thereof; thence south-westerly following that road to the river Rakaia; thence north-westerly following the northern bank of that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of the H.P.R. before-mentioned; and from thence returning along the said line and boundary to the commencing point.—For the purposes of protective works in connection with the river Rakaia.

No. 1237, in red.—Twelve hundred and two acres (more or less), situate in the Ashburton and Timaru districts, commencing at a point on the southern side of the road leading by Trig. pole 79, the said point being thirty-two chains north-east of Trig. pole 78; thence northerly, following the said road a distance of eighty-two chains; thence westerly at an angle of 102 deg. 5 min., following a straight line to the road by Geraldine and Orari; thence southerly following the latter road a distance of about eighty-two chains eighty links; and from thence returning in a line parallel to and one mile distant from the northern boundary to the commencing point.—For purposes of the Rangitata bridge.
No. 1238, in red.—Fifty-three acres (more or less), situate in the Lincoln district, bounded on the northward by the Ellesmere Junction Road and Reserve No. 310, in red; on the eastward by the Weeden and Ellesmere road; on the westward by the aforesaid reserve and section No. 4052; and on the southward by section 6638; subject to Reserve No. 802, in red.—For purposes of a tramway.
No. 1243, in red.—Five hundred and eleven acres (more or less), situate in the Ellesmere district, commencing at a point on the south-eastern boundary of H.P.R. on Run No. 101, Cl. 3, the said point being eight chains from its easternmost corner; thence south-easterly, following a straight line parallel to and eleven chains eighty links south-west of the North Rakaia Road a distance of about twenty-nine chains; thence south-westerly at a right angle a distance of fourteen chains eighty-five links; thence south-easterly, following a straight line a distance of about fifty chains thirty links to a point on the north-west boundary of section 10777, situate twenty-three chains thirty-five links from the northernmost corner of that section; thence south-westerly, following the north-west boundary of section 10777 to the westernmost corner thereof; thence following the south-east boundary of that section to the north Rakaia Road; thence south-easterly following the said road to the river Rakaia; thence north-westerly following the northern bank of that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of the H.P.R. before-mentioned; and from thence returning along the said line and boundary to the commencing point.—For the purposes of protective works in connection with the river Rakaia.
No. 1248, in red.—Eighty-six acres (more or less), situate in the Ellesmere district, commencing at the junction of the North Rakaia and Taumutu Junction Road with the road forming the south-eastern boundary of section 12885; thence north-easterly following the latter road to the south-western boundary of section 10739; thence south-easterly following that boundary a distance of forty-three chains ninety-four links to the road first mentioned; and from thence returning along the same to the commencing point.—For the purposes of protective works in connection with the river Rakaia.
No. 1285, in red.—Two hundred and thirty-four acres (more or less), in the Malvern district, bounded on the eastward by the road forming the western boundary of section 12872; on the northward by the road forming the northern boundary of that section and the southern boundary of section 12778; and on the southward by the River Wakaepa.—For road, tramway, and other purposes of the Provincial Government.
No. 1289, in red.—Two hundred and seventy acres (more or less), situate in the Malvern district, bounded on the northward by the River Wakaepa; on the eastward by the said river; on the westward by section 3716; and on the southward by a line parallel to and fifteen chains distant on the average from the northern boundary.—For road, tramway, and other purposes of the Provincial Government.
