Seven candidates for Mastership have been examined,—three during a visit to the
schools in the Southern District, and four on the 28th inst. in Christchurch. None of them
have had any special training; but those who have shown a decided fitness for the work
have obtained certificates to that effect. Others have acquired probationary certificates.
Three candidates have failed to pass the examination.

C. L. Wiggins has obtained a certificate for the Mastership of the Akaroa School.

John Nott, for the Mastership of the proposed School at Scotsburn; it being a small
elementary school, with an average attendance of ten.

T. Mulligan and Edwin Mossman have obtained probationary certificates.
