HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the portion of rural section No. 366, in the Mandeville District hereinafter described, has been dedicated to the public as a Public Highway:—
Commencing at a point on the southern boundary of the said section, five chains fifty-seven links, from the south-eastern corner of the said section; running thence northerly in a straight line parallel with, and five chains fifty-seven links, distant from the eastern boundary of the said section to the northern boundary thereof; thence westerly along the said northern boundary, one chain or thereabouts; thence at a right angle southerly, thirteen chains forty links; thence at a right angle westerly, five chains fifty-seven links; thence at a right angle southerly, one chain; thence at a right angle easterly, five chains fifty-seven links; thence at a right angle southerly, fifteen chains thirty links; thence at a right angle westerly, five chains fifty-seven links; thence at a right angle southerly, one chain; thence at a right angle easterly, five chains fifty-seven links; thence at a right angle southerly, eleven chains fifty-nine links to the southern boundary of the said section; and thence easterly along the said southern boundary, one chain, or thereabouts, to the commencing point.

THE Provincial Government of Canterbury, New Zealand, is prepared to receive proposals for the construction of a Railway between Christchurch and the South Bank of the River Kowai, a distance of about twenty-six miles, in accordance with the following resolutions of the Provincial Council:—
"1. That capitalists be invited to undertake the construction of a cheap Railway from Christchurch to the South Bank of the River Kowai, and to furnish the necessary rolling stock, buildings, &c."
"2. That it be a request to the Government to take by Ordinance or otherwise such steps as may be necessary to make £30,000 of the unexpended balance of the loan, and any interest that may accrue thereon, available as a fund for guaranteeing capitalists’ interest on the cost of the said Railway."
"3. That before any tender be accepted the sanction of the Provincial Council be first obtained."
