CHRISTCHURCH.

The weather during the first nine days of January was very rough and unsettled; frequent heavy rainfalls occurred, which amounted in this period to 3.89 inches in depth. On the 7th day, in 24 hours, 2.223 inches of rain were collected, of which 1.160 inches fell in the short space of 24 minutes,
