Land Reserves




No. 415, in red.—Three hundred and
fifty acres, more or less, on either
side of the river Mona, being bounded
on the east by reserve No. 405 (in
red), and on the north-west and
south-west by the base of the hills—
For the uses of the Provincial
Government, and particularly for a
township.

No. 416, in red.—Five hundred acres,
more or less, south-west of and adjoin-
ing reserve No. 403 (in red), extend-
ing on the average 100 chains from
north to south, and 50 chains from
east to west—For the uses of the
Provincial Government, and parti-
cularly for a ferry.

No. 417, in red.—All that tract of land
one mile wide, extending from the
north-western boundary of reserve
No. 410 (in red), to the streams
flowing from Lake Heron into the
Rakaia—For the uses of the Provin-
cial Government, and particularly
for a road.

No. 418, in red.—The river bed of the
southern branch of the Rakaia, and
flats, on either side from the Lake
Heron stream, to the valley leading
to Whitcombe’s Pass, and that Valley
to the top of the Pass, being thirty
chains in width—For the uses of
the Provincial Government, and par-
ticularly for a road.

No. 435, in red.—All that tract of land,
three chains wide, situate in the
Malvern District, the centre line of
the same commencing at a point on
the Coal Tramway Reserve, being
about ninety-six chains south-east of
the intersection of the said reserve
by the Dalethorpe and Kowai Road;
thence north-westerly, following a
curve of forty chains radius a dis-
tance of about forty chains; thence
north-easterly, following a straight
line a distance of ninety chains;
thence northerly, following a curve of
eighty chains radius to the foot of the
high bank or terrace forming the north-
eastern boundary of section 5177,
save and except the freehold land
purchased to date—For the uses of
the Provincial Government, and par-
ticularly for a railway.

No. 457, in red.—All that tract of land,
three chains wide, running from the
Coal Tramway Reserve to the Dale-
thorpe and Kowai road, the northern
boundary being south of, and parallel
to, and twenty chains distant from...
the Little Race-course hill and Kowai
road—For the uses of the Provincial
Government, and particularly for a
railway.

No. 458, in red.—Twenty-five acres, more
or less, being bounded on the north-
ward by the Little Race-course hill
and Kowai road; on the east and
south by the Dalethorpe and Kowai
road, and on the west by a straight
line to include the above quantity—
For the uses of the Provincial
Government, and particularly for a
railway.

No. 459, in red.—All that tract of land,
half a mile wide, extending from the
river Acheron to reserve No. 408
(in red), and bounded on the south-
westward by the northern bank of
the Rakaia—For the uses of the Pro-
vincial Government, and particularly
for a railway.

No. 460, in red.—All that tract of land,
half a mile wide, extending from Re-
serve No. 405 to Reserve No. 414
(in red), and bounded on the north-
eastward by the Wilberforce branch
of the Rakaia—For the uses of the
Provincial Government, and parti-
cularly for a railway.

No. 467, in red.—All that tract of land,
one chain wide, extending from the
northern bank of the Kowai, in a
northerly direction, along the side of
the terrace, and passing through
sections 4769, 2912, 4074, 4739, 5071,
7050 and 7054, and terminating at
the northern boundary of the latter
section. Subject nevertheless to the
freehold land purchased to date—For
the uses of the Provincial Govern-
ment, and particularly for a road and
railway.

No. 468, in red.—All that tract of land,
twenty chains wide, extending from
the northern boundary of section
7054, and passing in a northerly
direction on the western side of the
Waimakariri and Steven’s Creek;
thence by the northern base of
Purple Hill, and between Lake Sarah
and Sugar Loaf Hill, crossing the
Waimakariri at the northern branch;
thence following westerly along the
flat on the north bank of the Waimaka-
riri to the township of Bealey.
Subject nevertheless to the freehold
land purchased to date—For the
uses of the Provincial Government,
and particularly for a road and railway.
