The Offices of the Provincial Government will be closed on Tuesday next, the 17th instant.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that Messrs. Burnell, Bennett, and Sprot are authorised to make the following charges for dipping sheep at their dipping apparatus at Riccarton: viz.—

For any number of sheep under twenty, a sum of twenty shillings:
For twenty and up to one thousand, one shilling per head.
Above one thousand, eight-pence per head.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

Manukau Harbour.

NOTICE is hereby given that the inner fair way buoy in the South Channel of the Manukau has been removed, and a cone buoy with a barrel beacon on top, and painted red, has been placed in four fathoms, distant from the north-east end of Treachery Shoal about one cable. This buoy should be left on the starboard hand going in.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

Timber Cutting Licences.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Waste Lands Board will be prepared, on and after the First day of February next, to issue Licences for cutting Timber on the Waste Lands of the Crown within the Province of Canterbury.

SHIP “EASTERN EMPIRE.”

The Immigration Commissioners are much pleased with the condition of this ship. The appearance, cleanliness, and good order, evince great care and attention on the part of the surgeon and officers of the vessel. The Commissioners recommend the surgeon for permanent engagement. The Commissioners recommend that full gratuities be paid to the master, surgeon, chief mate, and purser.
