ENQUIRIES having been made respecting the person named below, any one who can give any information concerning such a person is requested to communicate the same to this office.
E. W. STAFFORD.
Christian and Surname.—Gommare Van Wentswinkle, known in the Colony by the name of the "Belgian," or "Belgian Peter."
Age.—Between 39 and 40.
Residence before going to the Colony.—Anvers, Belgium.
Married.—Wife and four children in Belgium.
Left Europe in September, 1854, as an Officer of the Belgian vessel "Petronille," Van Hornborstel, master. Date of arrival in the Colony, unknown.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste Lands Regulations now in force within the Province of Canterbury, he has made the following Reserves of Land for the uses of the Provincial Government, and for other public purposes, temporarily, until the next Session of the Provincial Council, viz.:—
No. 173, in red.—One hundred acres on the south bank of the Rakaia, for the purposes of a Ferry House, situate opposite the present Ferry Reserve, and east of Chapman's Homestead pre-emptive rights.
No. 174, in red.—Six hundred and forty acres south bank of the Rakaia, extending about 2½ miles westward of Chapman's Homestead pre-emptive right, on run 90, and back southerly on the average 30 chains.
No. 175, in red.—One hundred acres north bank of the Rangitata, opposite the upper Ferry Reserve, No. 164, in red.
No. 176, in red.—One hundred acres on the north-east bank of the Rangitata, Deep Creek, at the crossing known as Scott and Gray's crossing.
No. 177, in red.—One hundred acres on the south-west bank of the Rangitata, Deep Creek, at the crossing known as Scott and Gray's crossing.
