✨ Proclamation and Appointments
PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the
Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, entitled
the "Trespass of Cattle Ordinance,"
Session XII, No. 1, it is enacted that
it shall be lawful for the Superintendent
from time to time, by notice in the
‘Government Gazette’ of the Province, to
nominate and appoint fit persons to be Arbitrators under the provisions of the said Ordinance, and to cause Public Pounds to be
erected and maintained within the province,
and by writing under his hand to appoint fit
and proper persons to be Pound-keepers, and
to remove the same and appoint others in
their stead.
Now therefore I, WILLIAM SEFTON MOORHOUSE,
the Superintendent of the said
province, in pursuance of the provisions of
the above recited Ordinance, enabling me in
that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that all persons heretofore appointed to act
in accordance with the provisions of certain
Ordinances, entitled "The Trespass of Cattle
Ordinance," Session II, No. 7; and "The
Trespass of Cattle Amendment Ordinance,"
Session X, No. 4, shall be deemed and taken
to be Arbitrators and Pound-keepers within
the meaning of the Ordinance first above
recited; and all places or enclosures heretofore by law erected and maintained for the
impounding of cattle under the said Ordinance, shall be deemed and taken to be Public
Pounds within the meaning of "The Trespass
of Cattle Ordinance," Session XII, No. 1.
Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this twenty-fourth day
of April, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty.
