NOTES.
(a) The Receiver of Land Revenue retains monthly the sums payable to the General Government, paying nett proceeds to the Provincial Treasury.
(b) The Liabilities in respect of the Loan are for the present dealt with by the Immigration Agent in London, and are not brought to account in the Provincial Treasurer’s payments.
(c) The Provincial Treasurer is Receiver of Land Revenue—part of his Salary is charged against Land Sales, and accounted for with the General Government.
(d) Liabilities existing at the transfer of the Department to the General Government, rent of office, &c.
(e) The vote of £15,000 is expended in England. The London Office account is presented in a separate statement.
(f) Outstanding Liabilities from last year.
(g) Part of the work done in the Market Place is included under the head “Improvement of Streets.”
(h) The Inhabitants contributed £118 13s. toward the cost of this work.
(i) The present Lessee of the Ferry builds the Punt at his own expense under a special arrangement with the Government.
(j) The expenditure on the North Road from the Kaikainui Creek to Baxter’s Ferry is included in the amounts charged against “Kaiapoi Works, South of River” (£1,955 15s. 1d).
(k) The part of the Timber not yet used is not included in the value of “Stores” on hand.
