OFFICIATING MINISTERS within the meaning of
"The Marriage Act, 1854," have been sent in to
me, in addition to the names in lists published
respectively in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 5,
of the 27th January, and No. 7, of the 19th of
February in the present year.

Nelson, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, as Ports for the
registry of British ships under the provisions of
"The Merchant Shipping Act, 1854."

Christchurch, April 12, 1859.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be
notified for public information, that, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Waste
Lands Regulations
now in force within the province of Canterbury, he has made the following reserves of land temporarily until the next sitting
of the Provincial Council:—

Ten acres of land at Harewood, bounded as follows:—On the north-east by a road separating
this from sections 411 and 678, on the east by a
road, on the south-west by the river Eyre, and
north-westward, for the use of the Provincial Government.

Six hundred and forty acres west of Burke’s
pass on the main road to the Waitaki plains, lying
between the summit of Burke’s pass and Stericker’s
Monat.

An extension of the reserve on the north bank
of the Ashburton to six hundred and sixty acres,
instead of one hundred and sixty, as at present
reserved for a township.

Six hundred and forty acres on the south bank
of the Hurunui, opposite Shrimpton’s, for the purpose of a township.

Six hundred and forty acres east of and adjoining the native reserve at Little River, for the purpose
of a township.

Three chains in width through the pastoral districts and one chain in width through the agricultural districts, for lines of railway throughout the
province, as indicated on the plan of the Railway
Commissioners, and signed by the Chairman of
the Commission, Mr. Dobson.

Ten acres (more or less) situate at the “Deep
Hole,” Okain’s Bay River, having about 21 chains
frontage on the south-east side of the river, and
back on an average 5 chains, subject to a road
through it one chain wide down to the river and
along the bank, to be reserved for the use of the
Provincial Government and other public purposes.
