two duly qualified persons to serve as
members of the Provincial Council, for
the said district of Kaiapoi: Now there-
fore, I, the said William Cockerill
Beswick, do hereby, in pursuance of
the said recited writ, give notice that a
Public Meeting of the Electors of the
Kaiapoi District, will be holden at the
Court House, Kaiapoi, on Friday, the
6th day of November next, at noon,
for the purpose of nominating two
persons to serve as members of the
Provincial Council for the said Kaiapoi
District; and, in the event of a poll
being demanded for the candidates or
any of them, such polling shall take
place on Monday, the 9th day of
November next, at the Court House,
Kaiapoi.

The voting to commence at any time
after 9 o'clock a.m., of the said 9th day
of November, and to close at 4 o'clock
p.m. of the same day.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT.

WHEREAS a Writ under the hand
of Thomas Gore Browne, Esq.,
Companion of the most honourable
Order of the Bath, Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over the co-
lony of New Zealand, &c., &c., bear-
ing date the Fourteenth day of July,
in the year of our Lord One Thou-
sand Eight Hundred and fifty-seven,
hath been directed to me, Henry
Arthur Scott, Esquire, as Returning
Officer for the Heathcote District
requiring and commanding me
to cause to be elected by the voters
duly qualified for that purpose, freely
and indifferently, and in manner and
form by law prescribed, four legally
qualified persons to serve as members
of the Provincial Council, for the said
Heathcote district; Now, therefore,
I, the said Henry Arthur Scott, do
hereby, in pursuance of the said re-
cited writ, give notice that a Public
Meeting of the electors of the Heath-
cote District will be holden at Christ-
church Quay, on Thursday, November
5th, at noon, for the purpose of nomi-
nating four persons to serve as members
of the Provincial Council for the Heath-
cote District; and, in the event of a
poll being demanded for the candidates
or any of them, such polling shall take
place on Friday, the 6th day of Novem-
ber, at Christchurch Quay, and at Mr.
Archer's house, Lower Lincoln-road.

The voting to commence at any time
after 9 o'clock a.m., of the said 6th day
of November, and to close at 4 o'clock
p.m. of the same day.

Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire,

in-Chief in and over the colony of New
Zealand, &c., &c., bearing date the
Fourteenth day of July, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
fifty-seven, hath been directed to me,
Frederick Noble Campbell, Esquire, as
Returning-Officer for the District of Port
Victoria, requiring and commanding me
to cause to be elected by the voters duly
qualified for that purpose freely and in-
differently, and in manner and form by law
prescribed, two legally qualified persons to
serve as members of the Provincial Coun-
cil for the said district of Port Victoria;
Now, therefo'e, I, the said Frederick
Noble Campbell, do hereby, in pursuance
of the said recited writ, give notice that a
Public Meeting of the Electors of the
Port Victoria District will be holden at
the Court House, Lyttelton, on Monday,
the 2nd day of November next, at Noon,
for the purpose of nominating two persons
to serve as members of the Provincial
Council, for the said Port Victoria Dis-
trict; and, in the event of a pll being
demanded for the candidates or any of
them, such polling shall take place on
Wednesday, the 4th day of November
next, at the following polling places,
viz :β€”

At Mr. Rhodes's House, Purau; Mr.
Blatchford's House, Governor's Bay;
and at the Court House, Lyttelton.

The voting to commence at any time
after 9 o'clock a. m., of the said 4th day
of November and to close at 4 o'clock
p.m. of the same day.
