1 M James Murphy 52 Inflammation of left knee 1873. Nov. 25 1874. Jan. 4 41 1. Admitted with an inflammation of left knee. Extensive suppuration ensued, with tense sores on nates. Finally sank exhausted. Knee joint totally disorganized.
2 M John Curtain 44 Tumor in abdomen Nov. 10 Jan. 8 60 2. Admitted with a tumor in abdomen, filling right hypochondriac and iliac region. Tumor found to be of a cancerous nature, weighing 4lbs., attached to mesentery. A large cyst was found at the umbilicus filled with a milky fluid. Great intestines obstructed by tumor. Liver, waxy, nutmeg. Right kidney very large; left atrophied.
3 M Edward Boyd 48 Aneurism of aorta 1874. Feb. 4 Feb. 8 5 3. Admitted in a semi-comatose state, and with general oedema. An aneurism of the ascending aorta, as large as the fist, was found, with enlarged heart; much ascites.
4 M William Rayner 51 Haematemesis Feb. 8 Feb. 9 28 hours 4. Admitted in a state of collapse from haematemesis. Stomach found full of blood, also small intestines. Liver in a state of cirrhosis. Survived only 28 hours.
5 M William Murray 19 Typhoid fever Jan. 31 Feb. 14 16 5. Had head and chest complications. After death Peyer's gland was found enlarged. Brain very vascular.
6 M John Kent 60 Phthisis senile Jan. 26 Feb. 15 21 6. Admitted for senile phthisis. Right lung full of tubercles.
7 M Richard Jones 57 Liver disease and dysentery Feb. 5 Feb. 17 12 7. Admitted with diseased liver and dysentery. Abscess of liver; burst through diaphragm into right lung. Also a perforating ulcer was found in ascending colon.
8 M Sam (a Melanesian) 20 Jaundice Feb. 21 Feb. 23 3 8. Admitted in a state of insensibility, with yellow skin and eyes. Died comatose. Liver shrunken, of a deep gamboge yellow. Gall bladder empty. Patches of pulmonary apoplexy in right lung. Pia mater deeply injected. This was a case of acute yellow atrophy of liver.
9 M William Lee 35 Phthisis pulmonalis 1873. Dec. 10 1874. Feb. 26 88 9. An ordinary case of phthisis.
10 M Michael Kirvan 46 Chronic dysentery Feb. 21 March 3 11 10. Admitted for chronic dysentery, and gradually sank. Extensive ulceration of colon and rectum was discovered. Liver nutmeg.
11 M Jonathan Blott 55 Paralysis March 4 March 6 8 11. Admitted with paralysis, complicated with double pneumonia. Survived only 30 hours, and died by apnoea. Brain found deeply injected. Upper lobes of lungs in a state of grey softening, from pneumonia. Liver waxy.
