1 M Donald Sinclair 74 Paralysis 1872. Aug. 17 1873. Jan. 3 140 1. Admitted for Paralysis and general debility. Had incontinence of urine, and died comatose.
2 M Michael Enwright 31 Pleurisy 1873. Jan. 9 Jan. 18 9 2. Admitted suffering from dyspnoea and cough—presenting signs of left pleurisy and heart-disease—became dropsical, and died of Asphyxia. Pericardium full of turbid serum and flocculent lymph. Left pleura full of serum. Left lung collapsed and carnified. Heart flabby.
3 M John Dillon 80 Phthisis pulmonalis Jan. 11 Jan. 21 10 3. Admitted with great dyspnoea and urgent cough. Both lungs full of tubercles and vomicae. Left kidney wasted and full of serous cysts.
4 M John Mally 31 Erysipelas Jan. 3 Jan. 23 20 4. Admitted with various wounds, fracture of third, fourth and fifth ribs, besides contusions. Erysipelas of head and face. Pyaemic abscesses on hips. Inquest held. Verdict—Manslaughter.
5 M Eben. West 23 Caries 1872. Sept. 23 1873. Jan. 24 124 5. Admitted with caries of right Os Ilii, the result of a fall. Right thigh and leg much swollen and edematous. Interior of Pelvis became involved, and large abscess formed in right iliac fossa.
6 F Sarah Cooper 52 Heart-disease 1873. Jan. 27 Jan. 28 1 6. This case was in a dying state when admitted, suffering from general dropsy, the result of mitral disease and hypertrophy. Heart weighed 1 lb. 3 ozs. Liver cirrhosed, weighed 5 lbs. 4 ozs. Right lung adherent to ribs and congested. Tapped with much relief.
7 M Timothy Hobbins 33 Paralysis 1872. July 22 1873. Feb. 2 195 7. Left hemiplegia. He had occasional epileptic fits, and ultimately died comatose. Much of the brain was found in the state of ramollissement, and several tubercular masses of a lobular form were found imbedded in the substance. The form of this man's head was somewhat idiotic.
8 M George Rodgers 34 Delirium tremens 1873. Feb. 9 Feb. 12 3 8. Admitted suffering from Alcoholism. Stomach unsettled. Conjunctiva yellow. Bowels became much relaxed, and rapid sinking supervened. Liver yellow, weight 8½ lbs. Heart enlarged. Mitral valves deep red, and orifice obstructed by cords of lymph running across.
9 M Cuthbert Leathart 62 Heart-disease Feb. 14 Feb. 15 1 9. Admitted in the last stage of dropsy, the result of heart disease. Died by Asphyxia. Heart weighed 20 ozs.; aortic valves wrinkled; a few ossific patches in interior of aorta ascendens. Both pleurae full of serum, also abdomen. Liver of a dull, dark color, small.
10 M John Robinson 44 Dislocation of neck Feb. 21 Feb. 22 1 10. Admitted with paralysis of trunk and lower extremities, the result of forcible separation of sixth from seventh cervical vertebra, caused by a fall from a cart on the road. No fracture could be detected, but the ligamenta subflava were afterwards found ruptured. Had obstinate vomiting.
