PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 28th December, 1869.

I DO hereby notify that an application has been made by certain Settlers in the Ararimu Block (near the Great South Road) to have that Block of land separated from the Makitu and Paparata Highway Districts, and declared under the operation of "The Highways Act, 1867;" and I hereby invite the Boards of Trustees for the Districts abovenamed, and other interested persons to lodge objections (if any exist) at this Office on or before Monday, the 17th day of January, 1870.

For Twelve calendar months.

  1. Printing for Provincial Government: — Messrs. Jones and Co.*
  2. Printing for Provincial Council: — None.
  3. Stationery: — Messrs. W. B. and J. H. Upton.
  4. Binding: — J. F. Leighton.
  5. Carting: — James Rice.
  6. Wrought Iron Work: — Michael and George Leahy.

For Six calendar months.

  1. Coals: — Messrs. Archard and Brown.
  2. Firewood: — James Watt.
  3. Rations for Gaol: — A. Dornwell.
  4. Rations for Auckland Lock-up: — Robert Hale.
  • The tender of Messrs. Hamert and Co. was first successful; but, it having been withdrawn, the next lowest tender (Messrs. Jones and Co.) was subsequently accepted.

  1. Provisions for Provincial Lunatic Asylum: — Joseph Warren.
  2. Rations for Sick and Destitute: — J. W. Prime.
  3. Bread for Hospital (separate): — Thomas Wilson.
  4. Bread for Asylum (separate): — Thomas Wilson.
  5. Prison and Police Supplies: — Robert Hale.
  6. Provisions for Provincial Hospital: — J. C. Morrin.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

Superintendent’s Office,
Auckland, 23rd December, 1869.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Slaughter House Act, 1866," of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Auckland, I do hereby make and promulgate the following Rules and Regulations for the management of the Public Slaughter-houses within the said Province; and I declare that the Rules and Regulations now in force shall continue until the 1st day of January, 1870, and then cease to be of any force, and that the Rules and Regulations hereby made shall be in full force on and after that day:

  1. No cattle shall be slaughtered on Sunday in any Slaughter-house.

  2. On all other days such Houses shall be kept open during the hours hereinafter specified, for the slaughtering of cattle therein, and for skinning and dressing the carcases of the cattle so slaughtered.

  3. Such hours shall be from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Provided always that on Monday mornings, for the said purposes, the said houses may open immediately after midnight.

  4. No cattle shall be slaughtered nor carcase skinned or dressed at any such House except during the times hereinbefore prescribed; and every such House shall be closed and securely fastened within one hour from and after the latest time to which, under these Rules and Regulations, the same may be kept open.

  5. No portion of any animal shall be delivered or removed from any Slaughter-house after 5 o’clock p.m., unless delivered and removed with the carcase thereof; and no carcase shall be delivered or removed from such Slaughter-house after 7 o’clock p.m., when the delivery gates shall be closed.

  6. The keeper or lessee (as the case may be) of every such House shall cause the same to be clean kept, and to be washed out every day before 10 o’clock a.m. (Sundays excepted), and shall cause the walls and doors thereof to be scraped and white-washed on the inside once in every month, or twice if deemed necessary; and shall cause all stock-yards and sheep-pens thereunto belonging to be kept clean and in repair; all utensils,
