Highway District Boundary Amendments




THE WAIROA HIGHWAY DISTRICT.

(Former boundaries defined in Gazette No. 6, 15th February, 1868, page 42.)

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the North by the southern boundary of the Umupuia Native Reserve, parish of Maraetai, to the North-Western angle of allotment No. 58 of the Parish of Wairoa, thence continuing along the South Western boundary of said lot 58 of the Parish of Wairoa aforesaid to the Wairoa River, and by said boundary produced in a straight line across the Wairoa River before mentioned to the North Western boundary of the Mataitai block No. 1 of the Parish of Taupo, in the County of Eden; thence following the North Western seaward boundary of the Mataitai block No. 1 aforesaid and the North Western seaward boundaries of the Mataitai blocks Nos. 4 and 8 of Parish and County aforesaid, and the North Eastern and Northern boundaries of Mataitai block No. 3 of Parish and County aforesaid; towards the East by the Eastern boundary of the Mataitai block No. 3 before mentioned, and the Eastern boundary of the Mataitai blocks Nos. 4 and 6 of the Parish of Taupo and County of Eden aforesaid; towards the South East by the South Eastern boundary of the Mataitai block No. 6 aforesaid to its junction with the line known as the Wairoa confiscation boundary line; thence by said confiscation boundary line to the road which forms the South Eastern boundary of allotment No. 25, and part of the South Eastern boundary of allotment No. 24 of the Parish of Otau, to the Waimoko River; thence by the Waimoko River aforesaid to the road which forms the South Eastern boundary of allotment No. 30 of the Parish of Otau aforesaid; thence by said road to the Wairoa River aforesaid; thence by said Wairoa River to allotment No. 112 of the Parish of Hunua, and crossing said river in a straight line to the Northern boundary of allotment No. 112 of the Parish of Hunua aforesaid; thence following the Northern boundary of lot 112, aforesaid, and the North-western boundary of lots 174, 173, 133, and 136, of the Parish of Hunua aforesaid; towards the South West by the South Western boundaries of lots Nos. 135, 78, and 22, of said Parish to Hewlin’s line, and by the said line to the South Western boundary of the Parish of Wairoa; thence by that boundary, which also forms part of the North Eastern boundary of the Papakura Highways District, to the Western angle of lot 27 of the Parish of Wairoa aforesaid; and towards the North West by the North Western boundary of the Parish of Wairoa aforesaid, to the Umupuia Native Reserve first mentioned, the point of commencement.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

In pursuance of the powers in me vested by the third Clause of “The Highways Act, 1867,” I do hereby notify for general information, that I have altered and amended the boundaries of the several Highway Districts set forth in the schedule hereunder written.

One thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

SCHEDULE.

THE WHAU DISTRICT.

Former boundaries defined in Gazette No. 48, 5th October, 1868, page 432.

Amended Boundaries.

Bounded towards the North by high-water mark of the Waitemata Harbour and Oakley’s Creek from the Whau Creek to the Great North Road; towards the East by Oakley’s stream from the head of Oakley’s Creek aforesaid, to the Southern boundary of allotment No. 62; thence Westerly by said boundary to the road which forms the Eastern boundary of allotment No. 64; thence Southerly by the centre of said road to a line parallel to, and at a distance of three chains from, the Southern side of the New North Road; thence by said line to the stream aforesaid, and running Easterly by said stream to the Eastern side of the road which forms the North-eastern boundary of allotment No. 94; thence Southerly by the Eastern side of said road to its nearest angle; thence crossing the said road at the angle aforesaid to the Western side of the road which forms the Eastern boundary of allotments Nos. 66 and 67, to the Easternmost angle of last named lot; thence by the South-eastern boundary of said lot No. 67, and part of the North-eastern boundary of allotment No. 72 to the Eastern side of the road which forms the Eastern boundary of allotments Nos. 78 and 77; thence by the Eastern side of said road and by the crossing of another road to the North-eastern angle of allotment No. 75; and by the Eastern boundary of the lastnamed lot to high-water mark of the Manukau Harbour; towards the South by high water mark of Manukau Harbour aforesaid to the North-eastern boundary of the Waikomiti district; and towards the West by part of the North-eastern boundary of the Waikomiti District aforesaid and the Whau Creek to the point of commencement.
