1 M Robert McGregor 42 Pneumonia and pleurisy 1867 July 23 1868 Jan. 8 167 Right Pleura thickened contained eight ounces of putrid pus. Right lung adherent to side, middle and lower lobes hepatized, and in parts gangrenous. Death occurred by hectic fever and exhaustion.
2 M Alexander Scanlan 29 Phthisis Pulmonalis 1868 Jan. 9 ,, 12 4 Received into hospital from Tahiti, in the last stage of pulmonary consumption. The right lung was found full of tubercles and vomice.
3 M Robert Harrison 46 Aneurism of aorta ,, 17 ,, 17 4½ (hours) The disease was seated in the ascending portion of the aorta and presented the sacculated form. It had attained the size of a small orange, and by bursting caused sudden death.
4 F Susanna Wells 50 Cancer of stomach 1867 Nov. 11 ,, 19 70 Presented on admission a cachectic appearance, vomited after meals, and suffered severe pain at the pit of the stomach. After death the pyloric orifice of the stomach was found tightly constricted by a scirrhous ring.
5 M Richard James 60 Enlarged liver 1868 Jan. 11 ,, 21 11 A case of general dropsy, the result of disease of the liver, which weighed 11 pounds and presented the appearance of a section of brawn.
6 M John Kelly 30 Phthisis pulmonalis ,, 13 ,, 21 9 Perforation and sudden collapse of the left lung took place 24 hours before death. Right lung was found filled with vomice and tubercles.
7 M James Meale 21 Phthisis pulmonalis 1867 Nov. 18 ,, 22 66 Presented a large cavity in right lung, and was harassed by intractable diarrhoea.
8 M James Neale 38 Phthisis Pulmonalis Oct. 23 ,, 30 100 Here also a large cavity was found in the upper lobe of the right lung.
9 M Thomas Regan 52 Hypertrophy of heart Dec. 31 Feb. 8 40 Presented on admission general dropsy, great dyspnoea and remarkable failure of the pulse. Dying was very slow and protracted. The mitral valve was found thickened; liver was large, and of the nutmeg character.
