To ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENT SHALL COME, GREETING:

WHEREAS by “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from time to time to appoint Polling Places for each Electoral District, within or without the limits thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be the Principal Polling Place for the District, and all or any of such Polling Places at any time to abolish, and to appoint other Polling Places in lieu thereof:

And whereas in exercise of the said power and authority by divers Warrants under the hand of the Governor, certain places have been appointed Polling Places and Principal Polling Places for Electoral Districts for the Election of Members of the House of Representatives:

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same and to appoint others in lieu thereof, and to appoint Polling Places and Principal Polling Places for each of the Electoral Districts within the Colony of New Zealand, for the Election of Members of the House of Representatives: Now know ye that I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Act in this behalf, do hereby abolish all existing Polling Places and Principal Polling Places heretofore appointed for the Electoral Districts within the said Colony, for the Election of Members of the House of Representatives;

And I do hereby appoint the places mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereunder written, to be the Polling Places for the Electoral District mentioned in the first column of the said Schedule, opposite to which the names of such places are in the said Schedule respectively set, of the places mentioned in the said second column of the said Schedule, and I do appoint the places mentioned in the third column of the said Schedule to be the Principal Polling Places for the respective Electoral Districts opposite to which the names of such places are set.
