PROCLAMATION.

By ROBERT GRAHAM, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the "Diseased Cattle Act 1861," it was provided that the Governor in Council might by Warrant under his hand, from time to time, delegate to the Superintendent of any Province within the Colony of New Zealand, all or any of the powers vested in the Governor, or Governor in Council, by the said Act, subject to such regulations as he might think fit; and might from time to time rescind such delegation : and whereas the said Governor did with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, delegate to John Williamson, Esq., so long as he should hold the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, the several powers vested in the said Governor by the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth, and tenth sections of the said Act, subject to being rescinded as in the said Act provided, and subject to the regulations issued by the Governor in Council on the first day of October, 1861, and to any other regulations to be from time to time duly made; And whereas the said John Williamson, in pursuance and by virtue of such powers so vested in him did on the 28th day of February, 1862, proclaim and declare that after the date thereof the several Colonies of Australia, that was to say the Colony of New South Wales, of Victoria, of South Australia, of Western Australia and Queensland, as well as the Colony of Tasmania, and the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope, and the Islands of Great Britain and Ireland, should be deemed to be for the purpose of the said recited Act, affected districts within the meaning of the said Act, and no cattle were allowed to be imported from the above mentioned Districts into the Province of Auckland, until further notice; And whereas the said John Williamson has ceased to hold the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland; And whereas the said Governor hath with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, and in pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority did by his Warrant under his hand delegate to Robert Graham, Esq., so long as he should hold the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, the several powers vested in him by the said recited sections of the said Act, subject to be rescinded as in the said Act provided, and subject to the regulations issued on the fifteenth day of September, 1862, and to any other regulations to be from time to time duly made; And whereas it is expedient to remove the restriction on the importation of cattle from certain Districts included in the said recited proclamation of the 28th day of February, 1862 :

Now, therefore, I, the said Robert Graham, by virtue of such powers in me vested, do hereby proclaim and declare that from the date hereof, and until further notice, it shall be lawful for all persons to import cattle into the Province of Auckland, from the following places, viz. :β€”The Islands of Great Britain and Ireland, Tasmania, South Australia, Twofold Bay, Jervis Bay, Port Stephens, Newcastle, Port Grafton, Clarence River, and Sydney, N.S.W.; And I further proclaim and declare that the said proclamation of the 28th day of February, 1862, to remain in full force and effect save and excepted as altered hereby.

Given under my hand at Auckland, this thirty-first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
